Sometimes, mind acts like a raging horse and keep distracted from the present, listening over to the past or pretending to be alive in the future. The real miracle though, lies in living in the present and keeping it alive. Our mind needs to focus. It needs to live in the present. We should be habitual to practicing mindfulness in every aspect of our lives.
“If you are depressed you are living in the past. If you are anxious you are living in the future. If you are at peace you are living in the present.” Lao Tzu
Obsessively focus on the task itself – This advise sounds silly, but the fact is, we’re never totally focused on doing what we’re upto. In fact, in this age and time, the electronics, the notifications, the updates, the urgency of sharing has created a lack of mindfulness in our world. Switch off everything else, and focus on just the task.
Create Silence – It’s astonishing how unnoticed we live. Get up in the middle of the night and observe the surrounding, the complete silence, when almost everyone around you, and their equipment along with, are silent. Practice living in this silence for some time. During the day, speak less, with mindfulness.
Create a weekly setting – If it’s impossible to practice mindfulness everyday, make it a weekly ritual. Every weekend, get yourself some time and practice mindfulness meditation. In the upcoming week, you might experience a dramatic boost in your energies and your performance could peak!
Visit the lonely gardens or woods – It’s amazing how mindfulness is practiced by nature itself. And when we connect with nature, we discover our own mindfulness rising. Keep yourself connected with nature, grow a garden at home, and water them daily.
Go bicycling – One of the best way to be mindful, and lose weight at the same time, is going for a ride with your bicycle. Be mindful about paddling and at the same time, repeat a mantra. Select any happening and try to focus on just that. It could be the sound of your paddles, cars passing by, and people talking around. Focus.
